Fencing & Decking

“Good fencing makes good neighbours.” – Robert Frost

Fencing

Fencing plays an important part of the landscaping design, providing privacy, security and soundproofing from your immediate neighbours. It also adds a stylish backdrop to garden borders as well as offering a great solution to screening and zoning areas within the garden. There is an abundance of styles, designs and products to choose from. We can meet your specific requirements and provide a variety of high-quality fencing products from standard Feather Edge, also known as Featherboard or Closeboard, which is one of the most robust solid and timeless fence panels available, to bespoke hardwood installations. Slatted fencing in Cedar or tropical hardwoods such as Red Grandis or Siberian Larch pack a real punch of architectural style which can take the garden to another level. Similarly, sleepers can offer a stunning alternative to walling or planters as well as providing a great border option. Trellis can add height, interest and texture and provide semi-transparent screening within a garden scheme. We can source and supply a variety of products to help you create a stylish, yet practical framework for your garden. Creativity is boundless, we can help to plan, design and incorporate boundary fencing into your garden scheme to really showcase your outside spaces.

Decking

Wood or composite decking has become very popular in recent years and the addition of different types of decking can work well in the overall scheme of your outdoor space, offering an attractive alternative to paving. It can be especially useful to level uneven areas, create raised platforms or can be used where other types of landscaping might not be suitable.

Wood decking comes in two varieties, hardwood and softwood. The terms are biological and refer to the species of tree rather than the actual hardness of the wood. Hardwood decking is made from a variety of different broadleaved trees such as Oak, Beech or Ash. Due to their slow growth the wood they produce is harder and more durable. However, they can be more expensive than their softwood counterparts. Softwood decking is made from coniferous, evergreen trees such as Spruce or Pine. Softwood decking is pressure treated with preservatives to protect against fungal and insect decay as well as deterioration from the environment. Due to availability, ease of installation and cost, around 90% of decking is made from softwood. It can be stained or painted in practically any colour, adding texture and variety to your garden. Using sustainably sourced timber makes it an attractive and eco-friendly surfacing solution too! There are pitfalls, however, wood decking does require a lot of care and maintenance compared to other products on the market.

Composite decking has come on leaps and bounds in the last decade and offers a viable alternative to wood decking. Composite decking is not only stunning and almost indistinguishable from real wood it also requires very little maintenance; it won’t warp, splinter or rot and will stay looking great for years. Products often come with a lengthy warranty of 10 years, making it the perfect choice for your outdoor renovation. Composite decking is extremely durable, slip resistant, weather resilient and eco-friendly; often being manufactured from recycled wood and plastic and, unlike traditional timber decking, it does not require annual sanding, staining or sealing. There is wide range of products, colours and textures available, talk to us today to find out more.
